Social Services Purpose
The Hannahville Social Services Department is located within the Health and Human Services Building. The purpose of the Department of Social Services is to strengthen Native American families, promote protection and well-being of children, and promote family reunification and to provide safe, stable and nurturing homes and foster care homes when children are placed in out-of-home placements. The agency is committed to protecting vulnerable children, elderly adults and the disabled from abuse, neglect and exploitation. It offers child and adult protection services, child abuse investigation, prevention, and intervention, and family preservation and reunification services. Support services are offered to enhance individuals and families capacity to resolve problems, cope and function effectively and improve overall family functioning and well-being.
Reporting Child or Adult Abuse or Neglect
Reports of Child or Adult Neglect, Abuse or Sexual Assault ON the reservation must be made to:

or (906) 399-5506 (Social Services Protective Services Emergency Phone) After 4:00 p.m., weekends and holidays.
Reports of Child or Adult Neglect, Abuse or Sexual Assault OFF the reservation must be made to:

Verbal Referrals of Child or Adult Abuse or Neglect must be made immediately and a detailed written statement of the dates, times and details and individuals involved must be made within 2 hours of all CPS telephone or verbal referrals made. A written statement must be signed and dated by the referral source. All referral sources are kept confidential.
